Susan Harrison, Vice Principal

Following graduation, I was fortunate enough to enjoy living in France which developed my passion for encouraging others to learn a foreign language, so I began my teaching career in 1990 as a teacher of French after having completed a PGCE (secondary) at the University of Leeds.

After enjoyable experiences working in other schools, I joined Wakefield City Academy in 1997 as Head of Modern Languages and have held a number of subsequent roles within the academy, including New Opportunities Fund Coordinator, Director of Specialism, Assistant Headteacher and I became Deputy Headteacher in 2009.

I have committed myself to Wakefield City Academy and the local community that it serves for over 20 years and am passionate about ensuring that all of our students are given the opportunities that they deserve to achieve their full potential.
