April 2025
Dear Parent/Carer
Summer exams
Please find on the reverse of this letter a list of Religious Studies exams for which most Year 10 students will be sitting. These are their real GCSE exams. Students have been given their timetable with these exams on including their statement of entry and seat number.
Once these have been completed students will then sit a number of mock exams starting from Monday 16 May 2025. These exam dates will be communicated to students shortly. Students have been working hard with their classroom teachers to prepare for these exams. Mock exams have also been planned at this time to gauge the current level of work of students, provide clarity on what students understand and to further inform the teacher of where there are gaps in knowledge.
A secondary purpose of this assessment period is to prepare all students for sitting numerous exams together in exam conditions with invigilators which is something we feel students need to be prepared for.
Good attendance is crucial over this exam period in order to support students and their teachers prepare for GCSE exams. Students must provide medical evidence if they are unable to attend their GCSE exam.
A pre exam brief will take place in the Brasserie by a lead teacher of that subject before students are led to the exam room for the published start time. Please note that where exams run over the normal academy finish time alternative travel arrangements may need to be made. Students will need to stay for the duration of the examination. Normal lessons will take place when there is no exam.
Students have already familiarised themselves on the Outwood Academy City Fields Information for Candidates document. These are available to review on google classroom and on the Academy website. Students have previously had an assembly which highlighted areas of importance.
If you have any concerns or questions relating to exam issues please contact Mrs Steele at school.
Yours faithfully
Mrs Helen Steele

Please note Religious Studies are real GCSE examinations.
Students have been given a wealth of revision tools and exercises. These have been printed and also shared on Google Classroom. Please encourage your child to access these. Revision sessions have been occurring each Thursday from 2:30-3:30.
Those sitting community languages will also have additional exams to the schedule above.
