Ref - Romeo and Juliet Cinema Trip
Dear Parent/ Carer
I am writing to inform you of an exciting opportunity for Year 10 students to attend a screening of Baz Luhrmann’s 1996 film adaptation of William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. The trip is designed to enrich their understanding of the text, supporting their current study of the play as part of their GCSE English Literature curriculum. Seeing the play interpreted visually provides invaluable insight into character, setting and dramatic performance helping students to engage more deeply with Shakespeare’s language and themes.
The screening is booked for Tuesday 18 November 2025 at 10am, Cineworld Wakefield. Students will attend PDG and part of lesson 1. We will travel to the cinema by coach and return to school by 12.30 pm. There is a cost of £5 per student for the visit which covers the transport costs. This is payable on ipay. As this is a non-essential trip, the full amount must be paid by Friday 14 November 2025 for their place to be approved accompanied by the below reply slip.
It is essential for safety that the students involved follow the instructions given by staff, continuing to conduct themselves in a manner of which they are capable, being a credit to both themselves and the Academy. A copy of our behaviour policy is available on request. If a student needs to be returned to the Academy or brought home early from any visit, as a result of poor behaviour thereby creating a Health and Safety risk, a charge may be made for any costs incurred.
Students are required to wear their school uniforms as usual. They may bring extra snacks if they wish, but we request that they do not bring snacks that contain nuts. There will be no options to buy food or drink at the cinema.
Yours faithfully
Helen Steele
