Subject: Changes to the School Day - Parents
Dear City Fields Parents
Following the agreed changes we are now in a position where we can be more explicit with how this will impact students at City Fields.
Overview of the changes:
- The first 5 minutes of the day will be focused on registering and the basics of school life.
- The following 30 minutes will involve sessions which are designed to enhance students' broader personal development. Students during the Big Ask said they wanted more pastoral and social education. They wanted to focus on finances, careers and wider personal growth and development. This time will allow them to work with their teacher lead on these and other areas.
- Break time will now be 25 minutes.
What will this look like?
This creates a 6.5 hour school day, from the designated time for all students to be on-site until the conclusion of the final period and a 32.5-hour school week.
In order to support our move to the new day/week in September experts across the Trust have been preparing high quality resources for these additional sessions. To ensure these resources are utilised fully in the classroom, an additional disaggregated INSET day on 18 July 2025 has been agreed. Therefore school will finish on Thursday 17 July 2025.
If you have any questions, any suggestions or observations, please come and share these.
