Dear Students and Families
As we approach this half-term, we would like to share a new system of working and a refresher on our core expectations, known as "The City Fields Way," to ensure everyone is set up for success.
Our foundation for learning is built on the ABCDEF basics:
• Accept that your actions are your choice.
• Be on time, every time.
• Come to school fully equipped for learning.
• Do all classwork and homework to the best of your ability.
• Ensure that you keep hands, feet, and unkind words to yourself.
• Follow all instructions, the first time.
What’s new?
Equipment
Every student must carry a school bag containing their planner and a pencil case equipped with a ruler, pencil, black pen, and red pen. If students do not have these items they can be collected from the following areas before PDG (8:20 am):
- Staff on gate duty
- Student Information Desk - SID
- Inclusion - SEND Students
All students need to have this equipment with them before they enter PDG. For those who fail to do this PDG mentors will step in to provide those students with the correct equipment and issue them with a detention. Students will need to return the equipment to their mentors before they leave the school site.
Reminders
Attendance and Punctuality
Taking responsibility starts with being on time. Students are expected on site by 8:15 am, they are classed as late at 8:20 am as this is when students move to their PDG. At 8:25 am students are expected to be engaged in learning activities and will receive a detention if not on site by this time. If a student arrives after 8:55 am their morning mark, while acknowledged, will not contribute to their attendance. Where absences become a concern, these could lead to a fine.
Lesson Routines
To maximise learning time, students have a maximum of three minutes to move between classes. Upon entry to the classroom, coats must be removed immediately, and students must sit in their designated seating plans. Each lesson begins with a starter activity completed in silence with planners and pencil cases out on the desk; this is to settle the class so learning can begin effectively. We expect all students to work hard and interact respectfully from arrival in class until they are directed to leave the room in a calm and controlled manner.
Social Times
While we want students to relax and socialise with others, it is not a "play time" where inappropriate physical contact occurs, grabbing, pulling and crowding can lead to situations where students get hurt, we want our young people to enjoy themselves safely. We encourage students to use this time to engage in activities that are relaxing and calming, where there are opportunities to talk with friends, discuss topical issues, complete homework or partake in organised activities.
Uniform
We take pride in our appearance as it represents our academy. Please remember:
-
Shoes: Black school shoes only - no trainers
-
Socks: Black (no trainer socks)
-
Outerwear: Blazers must be worn; no hoodies are allowed on site. Additional outdoor coats can be worn, but hoodies (jersey style tops with or without zips do not keep students warm and dry) are not permitted.
-
General: Shirts must be tucked in, ties on with top button fastened, and no jewellery is permitted (confiscated if seen).
Planners are essential for organisation.
They must be ready for inspection at the gate and placed on the desk every lesson. Please note that arriving without a planner results in a detention, and defaced planners must be replaced at a cost of £4.These should be purchased through their ipay account.
We are committed to "Students First" and continually raising standards across the academy. By following these routines, we can all take pride in everything we do.
Best regards
