Axiom Maths

Wed 24 Sep 2025
Dear Parent/Carer,

I’m excited to share that I have reserved a space for your child in our Axiom Maths circle this year. Your child has demonstrated real potential in maths and pursuing this path could create incredible opportunities for them in the future. I am therefore writing to you today as I would like to ask you to encourage them to take up this opportunity.

Maths can make a significant difference to your child’s future by opening-up many doors, both academically and professionally. People with Maths A level earn 10% more in the same job than those without it. Over a lifetime, people with a maths degree earn £500,000 more than people with degrees in other subjects. Whatever your child chooses to do when they grow up, being excellent at maths will help.

Why do maths circles make the difference?
Axiom Maths circles is an enrichment programme that pushes children to grapple with maths from beyond the school curriculum. The idea is to do challenging but satisfying maths, and enjoy the buzz of solving difficult problems with friends.

Circles are small, nurturing groups – much smaller than normal classes. They meet for 45 minutes per week, with a teacher, to explore problems from the Axiom Maths curriculum. This curriculum runs all the way up to GCSE, ensuring that your child will be ready to excel at GCSE and A-level.

How can parents make a difference?
During their teenage years, it's common for pupils to feel unsure about their abilities or worry about how they might be perceived by their peers if they excel in maths. If your child ever feels this way, please know that your encouragement can make all the difference. And of course, if you have any concerns, I’m here to help.

Beyond the Circles
While maths circles are the heart of Axiom Maths, pupils will also have opportunities to participate in enriching trips and attend sessions led by influential role models, further expanding their horizons.
